Inspirational Human - LILLY ROWE

There’s a saying “surround yourself with the people who reflect who you want to be and how you want to feel, energies are contagious” and I am beyond grateful to have this girl in my life and be able to share this interview with you guys today with a very dear friend of mine Lilly Rowe.

Lilly is not only a beautiful human inside and out but also wears many impressive hats being the fitness & lifestyle guru at Kiss The Berry, Lululemon Athletica Ambassador, instructor at Barre Body Brisbane just to name a few of her skills and passions.

I sat down with this incredible woman to talk life, goals, successes and challenges…here’s a little insight into the life of someone who truly inspires us here at Temple Yoga & Retreats…

Who are your biggest influences in the health and wellness scene? Who do you admire most?

I really admire my Barre Body girl boss Emma Seibold, she has inspired me for the last few years - well before I became a teacher, even before Brisbane had a studio. I love her approach towards business and the way she manages to balance her family with her passions.

Who or what inspired you to do what you’re doing now?

A combination of amazing women really. My long term goal is to be a midwife and my cousin inspired me to do that when I was really young. In my workplace my friend and business motivator Sarah inspires me constantly to follow my own dreams and within my wellness community my team at Lululemon constantly inspire me to do more and be more.

What does a typical day in the life of Lil look like?

Honestly every day is different but if I could give you a general overview

Wake up around 5:30am with a kiss from my favourite person in the world as he heads out to the gym.

Then I snooze my alarm and don't go for the run I had planned on going on (#human).

I wake up to my back up alarm at about 6:15am and roll out of bed ready to take on the day.

A few mornings a week I head out to either take a pilates session in the park or in the BB studio.

Most days I pack an easy over night oats and have that on the go, or I head home and have a coffee and eggs for breakfast.

Then wherever my day takes me, sometimes on the floor at KTB, often doing back of house stuff with our community and fitness. I generally try to get to a class at Barre Body for a little burn of my own and an evening run (to make up for the morning one missed).

I like to be home before 6:30pm so I can wind down, catch up with my partner or family and relax. I love coming home and switching off my lights so I just have my Himalayan salt lamp, some candles and my oil diffuser going in my bedroom, this ritual really helps me to switch off and let go of the day I have had. We cook and eat dinner together most nights which is a really good time for us to connect. Then it's a cup of green tea and sometimes a bit of dark chocolate before heading to bed.

What’s the best advice you ever received?

Toughy - I'm not sure what the best advice I ever received was - However I remember sharing with Emma Seibold that I was struggling between wanting to do multiple different things and also achieve multiple pursuits but I couldn't fit it all in. I was torn because I thought I would have to choose one or the other, and choose soon. She just simply put "Oh you do have time, you can do it all - it will just happen at different times of your life". That was really reassuring for me.

What do you want your legacy to be? How do you want to be remembered?

I want to be remembered as a woman who was as empowering as she was nurturing. I want to constantly learn, grow and be inspired. I wish for my life to be filled to the brim with love, connection and strength - I hope to be able to share these values with other women and specifically mothers out there.

What is still your biggest challenge?

Finding a balance between being able to do all the things I love and am passionate about (there's a lot) and not burning myself out too much. I'm still working on it, but definitely getting better!

Where can we meet you?

You can meet me at the Bar..re - Barre Body Brisbane, 123 Charlotte St to be precise. It's my happy place so when I'm not teaching I'm often sitting on the cushions or occasionally doing a class myself. I can also be found in Kiss the Berry stores occasionally slinging an acai bowl or sweating it out at our Saturday Squad Bootcamps.
